What’s Behind the Dancing in The Perfect Couple’s Opening Credits?

Amelia Sacks and Benji Winbury’s marriage weekend in The Perfect Couple is no anomaly. But in this example, every visitor/cast member arrives together to foot the exact choreography to a Meghan Trainor music — fittingly, for this pulpy murder puzzle, titled “Criminals.”

“I’m most eager for individuals to see the dance series that we shot,” Meghann Fahy, who recreates the bride’s finest friend and maid of recognition, Merritt Monaco, described Netflix. “We were all a tiny bit nervous around it, and then we finished up having so considerable fun.”

The flash mob dance series — mapped release by famous choreographer Charm La’Donna — attends the beginning credits and helps to set the tone of the sequence. “It puts the play in a very concrete space of, ‘This is a slightly elevated existence and as an audience, you can permit yourself to have pleasure and want it,’ ” manager Susanne Bier suggests to Tudum. 

“There was something extremely joyful about keeping everybody doing it.”

The Perfect Couple

Founded on the bestselling book by Elin Hilderbrand, the sequel follows Amelia as she readies to wed Benji on his household’s Nantucket estate. The marriage is an East Coast drive, with oysters and shore glamour galore, until a dead body unexpectedly appears on the coast and hinders all Amelia’s soon-to-be mother-in-law Greer Garrison Winbury’s (Nicole Kidman) careful planning. 

The initial thought to feature a hop in the sequence came from administrative producer Gail Berman. Even a producer on Wednesday, Berman learned the value of maintaining a viral dance performance on her hands.

Bier located Trainor’s blow during filming. She obtained a few song requests for a planned dance series, but slipped in love with Trainor’s “Criminals,” with the recited lyric “Call us criminals, criminals” which directs the audience to question the characters, “Who’s blameworthy? Who’s not culpable?”

Originally, the prom was going to be in an altogether extra place in the series, as part of a nightmare fantasy series at the beginning of Episode 5. Nevertheless, it hung out that for pragmatic reasons, it would have been challenging for production to shoot –– so they hung.

“Susanne had this bright thought that if we were to operate a dance like that as the beginning credits, it would tell individuals right out that, yes, this is a killing mystery, and yea, it’s a thriller, but you’re even going to have so much pleasure, so sit around and appreciate the ride,” says Lamia. “The performance is not The Undoing. Sure, somebody’s running to be dead, but you’re even heading to laugh.” 

Dance Series

The cast understood the dance series, in which Bier suggested La’Donna should include a Saturday Night Fever vibe, in an occasional day, max. “I understood it in 10 minutes,” Mia Isaac, who recreates Chloe Carter, the authority chief’s teenage daughter, described Netflix. “It’s a remarkably easy dance. It’s sort of like Macarena-style, so we reached the droop of it behind a couple of takes.”

Ishaan Khatter, who recreates the groom’s best buddy and best man, Shooter Dival, values breaking out his dancing chops. “Where I arrive from in the Indian film enterprise, music is an extremely big part of our records and storytelling, and so, in a feeling, I felt friendly and satisfied with it,” he suggested Netflix.

Bier didn’t believe it should instantly be a TikTok-style hop, even though that’s how the characters and crew directed it on set quickly.
